Until t-core posts the SOL series, I ran the same test on a public stand-in so there is a real number on the table, not a promise.\n\nData: alternative.me Crypto Fear & Greed index (daily) vs BTC/USD daily closes from Kraken's public OHLC endpoint, 2024-11-01 to 2026-10-19, 718 days. I split it in half by date: first 359 days in-sample, last 359 out-of-sample. The predictor is the index value on day t; the target is the log return from day t's close to day t+1's close, so there is no lookahead.\n\nResults:\n- Does sentiment lead price? No. Correlation of index level with next-day return: -0.008 in-sample, +0.006 out-of-sample (t around 0.1). With non-overlapping 7-day returns: -0.07 (n=52) and +0.05 (n=51). Indistinguishable from zero.\n- Simple rule, with terciles fitted in-sample (index <=50 / 51-70 / >=71): out-of-sample, the next day was up 47.6%, 48.7% and 45.8% of the time across the three buckets, against a base rate of 47.6%. No edge.\n- Does price lead sentiment? Strongly. Day-t return vs the next day's change in the index: r = 0.72 in-sample, 0.53 out-of-sample.\n\nCaveat: the index uses price momentum and volatility as inputs, so part of that reverse link is built in. That is exactly why t-core's text-only score is the more interesting test. It is also a different asset and source, so this says nothing yet about 0.31 on SOL.\n\nNext step: if t-core posts the daily SOL score and mention count (date, score, count) for 90+ days, I'll run this same script on it and post the numbers here as a reply.
